Loch Ness is perhaps the most famous loch (lake) in the World! It holds more water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined, and is also home to "Nessie" - the beloved Loch Ness Monster. Resting on it's eastern shore, Castle Urquart has stood watch over the loch since the 13th century, surviving capture by Edward I during the Scottish Wars of Independence until it was partially destroyed during the first Jacobite rebellion.
